Virtual Facility Completes Successful SOC 2 Type II Examination for Cybersecurity

Evaluates Effectiveness of Internal Controls for Protecting Customer Data

What You Should Know:

Virtual Facility has successfully completed a Type 2 System and Organization Controls 2 (SOC 2) examination for its Alarm Triage™ Platform and services. The examination conducted by the independent CPA firm — AssurancePoint, LLC — found that Virtual Facility achieved its service commitments and system requirements as measured by the SOC 2 criteria for Security. The examination concluded in an unqualified (clean) opinion with zero control exceptions identified.

Why it’s important:

Critical facilities, such as healthcare and higher education, are prime targets for hackers, malware (like ransomware) and other cyber security exploits. This is why many of these organizations request a SOC 2 report from their suppliers, vendors, or partners as a component of their due diligence process to obtain relevant information regarding the handling of their data. SOC 2 is considered a “defacto” standard for cybersecurity.

What it Means:

To do our part in helping to keep our customers safe and secure, and to ensure Virtual Facility meets and exceeds industry best practices, we engaged a third-party organization to conduct a SOC 2 examination of our cybersecurity posture — the controls that protect against unauthorized access, unauthorized disclosure of information, and damage to systems.

Our SOC 2 report provides users of Virtual Facility services with information regarding the design and effectiveness of our internal controls relevant to the SOC 2 Security criteria. The information presented has been examined by an independent CPA firm.

Next Steps:

A SOC 2 Type II examination is NOT a one and done event. Virtual Facility is committed to performing the examination annually to continually improve upon our internal controls and to provide consistent assurance of their effectiveness to our customers via an annual SOC 2 report.
